Why You Need to Brush Often

It is extremely important to brush twice a day, every day. Brushing your teeth removes the plaque, food particles, bacteria, and debris that accumulate throughout the day. If you don’t thoroughly brush twice a day, you risk gum disease, tooth decay, root infection, and many other oral health issues.

Take Care of Your Oral Health!

In order to take care of your oral health you need to not only brush often but also brush properly. This means taking about 30 seconds at a time to hit each quadrant of your mouth. Brush thoroughly, but not too hard. You don’t want to damage your gums. You also may want to consider investing in an electric toothbrush to make sure the job gets done properly.

Flossing is also an important aspect of proper oral health. Make sure you are brushing at least once a day and get between each tooth. Be gentle, but also floss all the way down between your teeth. If you notice bleeding or irritation, you may need to be gentler with your flossing. If this bleeding is ongoing or if you notice bleeding when you are brushing, book an appointment with your dentist so they can take a look and diagnose the issue.

You need to schedule an appointment every six months for a regular cleaning and checkup. During these appointments, your dentist will take a look at your teeth, gums, and jawbone to diagnose any oral health issues. A hygienist will also professionally clean your teeth and gums.

All of these elements combined will ensure your ongoing oral health. To make sure you brush regularly, pick a toothpaste that you enjoy the taste of but also offers the protection you need to avoid cavities and gum disease.
